ZNCWC (ZIMBABWE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN) is the umbrella body for the child rights sector which coordinates the Child Rights Coalition in Zimbabwe. Its major thrust is lobbying and advocacy, capacity building of membership, quality assurance on child-oriented initiatives, child participation, and research. ZNCWC was established in 1968 in response to the growing number of children who were living in difficult circumstances. ZNCWC is the umbrella body for the child rights sector which coordinates the Child Rights Coalition in Zimbabwe. Its major thrust is lobbying and advocacy, capacity building of membership, quality assurance on child-oriented initiatives, child participation, and research.

The Association was founded in 1923 by Sir Crawford Douglas-Jones who was at that time Resident Commissioner for Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). When the motor car took the place of the ox-wagon, travellers who had to make long journeys about the country were able, mainly during the dry season, to make these journeys by motor car in a few hours or days instead of weeks. It was evident that the ancient methods of transport were rapidly being superseded by the modern. One of the chief difficulties experienced at the time by drivers of cars was that of keeping to the road they wished to follow. On leaving a town, the track would be distinct and easy to follow, but a few miles out it became difficult to decide which was the correct way: either the well-defined spoor or the indistinct one often almost hidden in tall tambookie grass. And often did the distinct track lead into some impassable vlei, where, without any warning, the car became bogged and impossible to move under its own

The Bulawayo Publicity Association was established in 1932 to promote and publicise nationally, all aspects of the City of Bulawayo and surrounding districts in commerce and industry, tourism, sport, arts and culture. It provides a personal information service to enquirers and a place of first contact for visitors to the City

Chemplex Corporation is the largest fertilizer and chemical manufacturing company in Zimbabwe. The company mines and beneficiates phosphate rock which is used in the manufacture of fertilizers and also manufactures sulphuric acid which is then converted to other industrial chemicals. The Corporation has six companies namely ZimPhos, Dorowa, Chemplex Marketing, Chemplex Animal & Public Health, GD Haulage and G&W Industrial Minerals. The Corporation employs over 1 000 people including more than 100 engineers, chemists, technicians and other highly skilled professionals.To meet the high standard manpower required, the company trains graduates and apprentices every year and thus contributes to national manpower development.

The APEX Organisation for Industry in Zimbabwe, the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industry (CZI) has been in existence since 1923. It is an independent, self-financed, legally constituted organisation that represents and serves interests of members in a wide array of matters affecting their viability and competitiveness. CZI has four regional chamber offices in Mashonaland, Matebeleland, Midlands, and Manicaland, which serve as reference points for industry in international business community. CZI promotes active business in Zimbabwe to achieve a minimally regulated business environment, in which development is possible.

Jairos Jiri Southerton Children’s Centre is situated in Southerton, south-west of the Harare Central Business District, provides rehabilitation and educational services to primary school going age children who are physically challenged. Southerton Centre has an enrolment capacity of 255 pupils and a staff complement of 65 which includes specialist teachers, Physiotherapists, Nurse Aides and other support staff. Physiotherapy and occupational therapy is provided to both inmates and outpatients. It is the biggest of its kind in the country, and has over the years produced many respectable citizens, some of them who are graduates of our local universities. Over the years the centre has nurtured pupils who are highly competitive in all aspects of life, independent and self-reliant. The centre ensures that the ideal product is a responsible citizen who is well socialised, God fearing, cultured and well disciplined. The dairy industry in Zimbabwe began in the early 1900’s with the first commercial dairy outlet established in Plumtree. The past century has seen the growth of a highly developed industry and an important commodity in the agricultural sector. In the 1950’s a parastatal, the Dairy Marketing Board (D.M.B) was set up to buy, collect and process all raw milk in the country and to facilitate the marketing of all fresh milk and milk products. In 1953 the National Dairy and Wholemilk committee was established. This functioned until 1965 when the National Association of Dairy Farmers of Zimbabwe (N.A.D.F) was formed to serve the interests of its members, in particular, the Zimbabwean dairy farmers and to promote the dairy industry in general. Anyone who produces milk and pays a levy to NADF is classified as a member.

ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion organisation, is the unique joint venture partnership between the Private Sector and the Government of Zimbabwe. It was established in 1991.

The Small Enterprises Development Corporation (SEDCO) is a leading development finance institution for the promotion and development of micro, small and medium enterprises in the country. It was formed in 1983 through an Act of Parliament, chapter 24:12 and is a parastatal which falls under the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Co-operative Development.

The processes of globalization and liberalization have introduced forces that imperfectly are understood. Africa’s public policy in international fora is often largely determined ad hoc and influenced by contingent factors. Africa and the developing world are still mostly takers, and not makers, of international decisions that affect their economies and people. More often than not, African governments sign international trade agreements without adequate information or analysis; and for various reasons African governments are constrained from making collective action on trade and development matters. The above factors are compounded by the fact that there is still limited participation of key stakeholders in these global processes. SEATINI- The Organization The Southern and East African Trade Information and Negotiation Institute (SEATINI) is a regional non-governmental organization founded in 1996 soon after the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Singapore Ministerial Conference

The Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA), is the largest teacher trade union in Zimbabwe representing at least 44 000 members across Zimbabwe. Our members are educators drawn from primary schools, secondary schools, and heads of schools, college lecturers, education officers and the education personnel. ZIMTA is an authentic organization whose governance is guided by a constitution. All elected national executive members are voted into office every 4 years in a manner that guarantees democracy, transparency and accountability. ZIMTA was established in 1942 with the main aim of mobilizing all teachers so that they can speak with one voice. Educators who subscribe to ZIMTA membership receive a number of benefits. Chief among these are negotiated worker’s salaries and legal advice as matters of priority. In addition to programmes that benefit members directly, ZIMTA seeks to influence the education policy in Zimbabwe through submitting evidence that assists in decision making

CHEFS UNION OF ZIMBABWE is a voluntary non - profit organization based in Harare and with branches around the country

The Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers Union is a registered farmers' Union. It was started on the initiative of large scale indigenous commercial farmers who entered the business of commercial farming after independence. The Union operated as an association from 1990 until it was registered as the Indigenous Commercial Farmer Union in 1996. The union has since changed its name to Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers Union (Z.C.F.U), and its mandate is now to serve commercial farmers irrespective of the size of the farm. District – Consisting of local associations committees. This level coordinates the activities of the various local associations and commodity association in the district. Province – Consists of district committees which come together to form a committee at this level to run the affairs of the province.

Zimbabwe Cross Border Traders Association (ZCBTA) is an apolitical organization which was formed in 2000 and got registered in 2001 as trust. The organization is a representative body of small scale traders’ whose mandate is to promote and defend interest of its members. ZCBTA has a membership base of over 7000 with a ratio of 76% to 24% women and men respectively.

Zimbabwe Tobacco Association (ZTA) was formed in 1928; among its objectives it promotes and supports research and training to ensure the continued development and expansion of the flue cured tobacco growing industry. It was responsible for the establishment of the Tobacco Research Board (TRB), along with farmer training organizations such as Blackfordby Agricultural Institute (BAI). Our membership consists of both large scale commercial and small scale tobacco growers. Our members produce on average 30 percent of the national flue cured tobacco crop
