Uganda Women's Cancer Support Organization (UWOCASO) is a group of breast cancer survivors. The initiative to form the group arose from the survivors' personal experiences as patients and the realization that they could contribute. These survivors efforts go towards making fellow affected women have less traumatic experiences and to foster hope for a cure if they report early for treatment. UWOCASO was founded in 2004 by five survivors but has continued to attract more survivors and well wishers. The current membership is 35 survivors. It is the first cancer support organization founded in Uganda. The organization's main aim is to give psychosocial support to women and their families experiencing breast cancer and cervical cancer diagnosis. They are focused on educating the entire population about the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of these cancers and are trying to impart a culture of routine screening, adopt best practices of Self Breast Examination (SBE) and presenting
