Amalgamated Motor Corporation (AMC) commenced operations as Imperial Motors (Private) Limited, in February 1941. In the early 1950’s it became Cairns Motors (Private) Limited. Cairns Motors (Private) Limited was acquired by T.A Holdings limited and changed the name to T.A. Motors. T.A Holdings restructured in the early 1990s, and in this process T.A Motors was sold to the Omar family. The owners changed the T.A. Motors name to John L Robinson Agencies (Pvt.) Ltd trading as Amalgamated Motor Corporation. In June 1999 the Omar's subsequently sold the company to Scotia Holdings. To date John L Robinson Agencies (Pvt.) Ltd Trading As Amalgamated Motor Corporation, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Scotia Holdings. . In June 2012 AMC incorporated Rylett Motors trading as AMC Mitsubishi.
