Mbizi Game Reserve & Lodges is a privately owned establishment spanning over 1 000 acres. A place that has been termed as a “…haven of peace and tranquility…” Mbizi was built by the hard working couple of Mervyn & Barbara Senior in 1991. The couple managed to turn a one-time old farm into a marvelous lodging house surrounded by pure wilderness. The name “Mbizi” is the shona translation for Zebra in English. The name Mbizi brings about a sense of ethnic beauty and grace to the Park. The buildings have a grass thatch on the roof and have been furnished with original railway sleeper on the inside. The exquisite furnishings are made with local teak of particular interest is the five meter long dining table in the guest’s dining room of the main lodge.
