DJ Yusuf is originally from UK, where he built a nationwide reputation for his eclectic mix of international beats, performing at all kinds of venues including WOMAD & Glastonbury Festivals, WOMEX and at the legendary Mambo Club in Brixton. In 1998 DJ Yusuf relocated to Zanzibar, where he set up Busara Promotions, a non-profit NGO working throughout East Africa to promote local and international music. Established Sauti za Busara (Sounds of Wisdom) African music festival in 2004, yet Yusuf still enjoys DJ-ing regularly at hotels, beach resorts and full moon parties around Zanzibar under the banner of Routes in Rhythm. DJ Yusuf is on a musical mission. On his playlist are the latest dancefloor fillers from East Africa, mixed with an eclectic selection from all over Africa, the Arab World, Latin America and the Caribbean, incorporating sounds old and new to keep any audience on its feet.
