Africa Medical College is a privately owned medical institution established in 2003/4 mainly to iron out the scarcity of health professionals of the country with the initial capital of 15,000,000 birr in Addis Ababa Bole and Kirkos sub-cities. Like any newly established private colleges of the country, Africa Medical College sets out its training program in four departments in diploma level. These are; clinical Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, pharmacy and X-ray Technology. Unlike other colleges, some of the prospective graduate of the college are hoping to be employed in the six Africa Higher Clinics, which are found in Addis Ababa. These would be having its own share in alleviating the unemployment problems of the graduates, which are employed at the moment by private investment endeavors in Ethiopia.
